Bringing state of the art diagnostic imaging close to home

The final piece of Mercy Folsom’s $6.4 million investment in digitally compatible diagnostic imaging technology, a 64-slice CT scanner, is now in place and operational. This scanner, along with other imaging upgrades, including a 4-D ultrasound machine (3D images in real time) and a state-of-the-art hybrid Nuclear Medicine/Computed Tomography (CT) system, significantly advance Mercy Folsom’s diagnostic capabilities.
Providing the perfect complement to this advanced equipment is Mercy Folsom’s medical and technical staff. Each member of our staff is state licensed, board certified and nationally registered. We take great pride in the compassionate, highly skilled and dedicated staff who care for our patients.
Radiology services include:
- CT (Computed Tomography) scans
The 64-slice CT scanner’s innovative design provides an open environment, eliminating the closed-in feeling sometimes associated with CT scans. It is one of the fastest scanning systems available in healthcare today, capable of performing a full body scan in as little as 20 seconds, and can image incredibly small details in a matter of seconds with improved image resolution and extraordinary visuals. The scanner is located adjacent to the Emergency Department to facilitate patient diagnoses when minutes and seconds count.
- Nuclear Medicine/Computed Tomography (CT) system
Mercy Folsom’s state-of-the-art hybrid Nuclear Medicine/Computed Tomography (CT) system, harnesses the power of two advanced technologies to provide unprecedented image quality and diagnostic confidence. By combining these two techniques into a single diagnostic tool, the hybrid imaging system allows Mercy’s physicians to more precisely determine where diseased tissue is located, distinguish it from normal tissue and predict where it might spread.
- 4D ultrasound
The Philips iU22 four-dimensional (4D) ultrasound system stands apart from traditional two dimensional (2D)-ultrasound technology by providing greatly enhanced image quality and the ability to see three-dimensional (3D) images in real time (live action). Parents may actually see their baby moving: smiling, yawning, blinking and sucking fingers. The system's powerful imaging capabilities are also used to aid diagnoses within a broad range of clinical specialties including urology, endocrinology and vascular medicine. The images are clearer and more detailed, allowing our physicians to provide answers for patients more quickly and easily.
- Inpatient and outpatient X-rays
Mercy Folsom offers a full complement of X-ray services. This includes: routine radiography, fluoroscopy, portable radiography and surgical radiography.
- Mammography
Mercy Folsom provides screening mammography, diagnostic mammography and breast needle localizations.
