Mercy Hospital of Folsom's Emergency Department provides care for life-threatening emergencies, as well as minor urgent-care medical problems. The department and staff have 24-hour access to diagnostic equipment and surgical services to assist in the delivery of emergency care.

Cummings Emergency Pavilion open for patient care
Mercy Folsom has opened the first phase of our newly constructed 25-all private room Emergency Department after receiving licensing from the California Department of Public Health, marking another milestone in our 28-year heritage of caring for our community.
The 22,410 square foot $27 million Emergency Department is the first step in a multi-phased expansion designed to meet the healthcare needs of the burgeoning region Mercy serves. As the sole Emergency Department in the Folsom area, it is vitally important we grow our facilities to keep pace with the communities we serve.
To answer this need, the new Emergency Department brings:
- An almost five-fold expansion of Emergency Department space from the previous 4,620 square feet to 22,410
- A more than three-fold increase in beds
- 25 private rooms
- Increased privacy during registration and triage for patients and their family members, including electronic bedside registration
Additional features include:
- An advanced digital imaging and radiography unit
- Two critical resuscitation rooms
- Two specialized treatment rooms
- A high capacity decontamination room
- Two isolation rooms
- Improved ambulance access and parking
The design of the unit incorporates the healing principles of color and art. Each of the 25 rooms is designed to help quell patient anxiety, featuring earth tones and photographs of natural scenes from the foothills region.
Hand-in-hand with the new Emergency Department, Mercy Folsom recently completed a $6.4 million investment in digitally compatible diagnostic imaging technology.
Renovation of existing Emergency Department continues
As the 25-bed Emergency Department opens to patients, the existing seven-bed unit will undergo a renovation to become an expanded lobby and patient reception area. Slated for completion in late fall 2008, the new lobby will be spacious and as comfortable as possible for patients and their family members.
