Cummings Emergency Pavilion Expands Access to Emergency Services in Region

Mercy Folsom’s 25-all private room Emergency Department has been open for care for more than a year, an important milestone in our 28-year heritage of caring for our community. The 22,410 square foot $28 million Emergency Department is an important step in realizing our commitment to meet the healthcare needs of the burgeoning region Mercy serves. As the sole Emergency Department in the Folsom area, it is vitally important we keep pace with the communities we serve.

The new Emergency Department brings:

  • An almost five-fold expansion of Emergency Department space from the previous 4,620 square feet to 22,410
  • A more than three-fold increase in beds
  • 25 private rooms (one is pictured above)
  • Increased privacy during registration and triage for patients and their family members, including electronic bedside registration

Additional features include:

  • An advanced digital imaging and radiography unit
  • Two critical resuscitation rooms
  • Two specialized treatment rooms
  • A high capacity decontamination room
  • Two isolation rooms
  • Improved ambulance access and parking

The design of the unit incorporates the healing principles of color and art. Each of the rooms is designed to help quell patient anxiety, featuring earth tones and photographs of natural scenes from the foothills region.

Hand-in-hand with the new Emergency Department, Mercy Folsom made a $6.4 million investment in digitally compatible diagnostic imaging technology.

New Lobby Complete

The Cummings Emergency Pavilion’s Cimaroli Lobby was designed with our patients’ needs in mind. Its comfortable and spacious design provides privacy for patients and family members during registration and triage.

The lobby features a multimedia piece of art as its centerpiece. Folsom’s Finest Artists Lisa Deniz, Brandy Hart-Ureel, Randy Blasquez and Julie Bjorgum collaboratively created the art.
